About Me!
Hello! I’m Abigail Steinman (yes, it’s okay to call me Abbey, too). Welcome to a blog that will fuel my writing motivation.
I’m a Las Vegas native. My whole life consisted of going to the casinos growing up, and I’ve learned to love each one in its own way. For certain casinos, I can tell you when they’ve changed their silverware or napkin supplier.
I’m currently a junior at UNLV, and I’m pursuing a degree in journalism with a concentration in media studies.
My drive for writing has multiple ups and downs. To be honest, my life gets busy randomly, but I mainly suffer from imposter syndrome. It causes me a bunch of headaches, and I tend take breaks here and there, and act as if nothing happened at all. Hopefully, someone can relate to that. For the most part, I feel at ease writing essays or opinions on books and music.
My passion and interest in journalism have always been a constant variable in my life. Like everyone else, media runs my world, and I love trying to understand its importance to our society. Media is as human as we are, and it fascinates me to the point I scare myself at times. That might’ve been too honest…
Regardless, I hope to pursue a career in journalism and hopefully one in writing. I had to switch my concentration from traditional journalism to media studies because of other opportunities that restricted me to online school.
Perhaps a more interesting thing about me is that I have a career in modeling, which changed my education path. If it weren’t for modeling, I would’ve never had as many opportunities to travel to destinations I could only dream of. It wasn’t until I was 20 years old that I went on my first flight! Anyhow, I’ve managed to work for brands like Maybelline, Quay, and Maison Kitsune; however, what I’m most proud of is my first magazine photoshoot for Vogue Korea back in 2023.
Other things about me consist of being a big listener to music genres such as classic rock, new wave, alternative and electronic. Some of my favorite artists include Neil Young, Talking Heads and Interpol.
When I used to be musically talented, I used to play classical guitar and bass. These are instruments that I still cherish heavily, and only play from time to time to keep the muscle memory intact.
Although what keeps me afloat is reading. My favorite book of all time is East of Eden by John Steinbeck. This is an American classic for a plethora of reasons, and I find myself relating more to it as each day passes. I think it’s a book everyone should read in their lifetime.
Also, since I like to overwhelm myself, I’m in two book clubs. It’s these small tidbits of life that matter to me.
Oh! I have a dog who is a pitbull and terrier mix who goes by Hendrix, and he means the world to me. My family and I adopted him in 2021, and he is the first pet I’ve ever owned. My life has only gotten better because of him.
My sweet dog, Hendrix.
